Revving Up New Zealand's EV Future
Toyota has become a key part of New Zealand’s culture, evolving into one of the leading automotive companies in the region. As the electric vehicle market began to grow, Toyota identified a gap in the infrastructure for servicing and recharging EVs. To address this, they imported raw electric charge units and tasked us with designing their housings and creating visually distinct zones for customers to charge their vehicles.
In my research, I saw the need for both freestanding and wall-mounted versions of the units. The design featured a bold color scheme that aligned with the electric vehicle image while standing out from the traditional Toyota branding. I created initial sketches and digital visuals for pitch purposes, followed by 3D renders in Illustrator due to time and budget constraints. These assets gave the sales team the tools they needed to move the project forward.
Although I left before seeing the designs go into production, the process was a rewarding experience in combining innovation with practicality.
